Programs and Services

International Hearing Dog, Inc. (IHDI) specializes in the training and placement of Hearing Dogs. Dogs are selected from local animal shelters then trained as Hearing Dogs. The programs and services are reflective of our mission, To train dogs to assist persons who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing, with and without multiple disabilities, at no cost to the recipient.

Along those lines, IHDI offers two primary placement programs, Hearing Dogs and Companion Therapy dogs. The primary program, which is the Hearing Dog program, is for individuals with significant hearing impairment who could benefit from the use of an assistance dog. The Companion Therapy program is for individuals who may not have the required amount of hearing loss or do not have a significant need for a Hearing Dog.
