International Hearing Dog is proud to announce the placement of its 1,000th hearing dog! Hearing dog “Rambo” became the lucky recipient of this honored title when he was placed in Texas on July 13th. Rambo, a Border Collie mix, continually impressed IHDI Head Trainer, Andrea Paul, throughout the eight months of training that he received at IHDI. “Rambo’s excitement and energy during training made him a joy to work with,” said Paul.
Wilhelmina, of Texas, was so eager to get her new hearing dog that she flew to IHDI’s facility in Colorado just to meet her new companion. Rambo and Wilhelmina spent two fun-filled days playing together and getting to know one another in May, because Wilhelmina “just couldn’t wait” to meet Rambo.
“I guarantee him a happy life,” said Wilhelmina in a letter to IHDI President and Executive Director, Valerie Foss-Brugger. “Initially I thought about the assistance with the obvious: bells and alarms and the like. But more and more the idea that walking alone in a crowd, always on the alert for everything and something, will become so much more relaxing with a dog at my side, is fantastic! I believe a lot of stress and tension will be released when I know I can ease up. Maybe that feeling of security is the greatest gift a hearing dog can give. The rest is almost gravy.”
IHDI would like to thank all our supporters for helping us to arrive at our 1,000th hearing dog!
